Rjukandefossen is one of Hemsedal's most famous attractions, and a short walk from the parking which you'll find along highway 52 across from Rjukandefossen Camping .
Rjukandefossen is an impressive and powerful double-barreled waterfall with a waterfall of 18 metres. At the waterfall there are pothole formations carved out of the water, as well as a suspension bridge with which you can cross the river. The waterfall has a large water flow most of the summer and it is a great place for a picnic.
At Rjukandefossen, it is also possible to swim, not at the waterfall itself but after the suspension bridge. A little below the waterfall there is a suspension bridge and a little below it again there are some rocks that sink into the water from which you can walk into the river. For the daring, it is also possible to jump from the cliffs on the other side of the river. Do not swim in towards the waterfall under the bridge, there are strong undercurrents there as a result of the waterfall which can drag you under the water. From Rjukandefossen there are various hiking options, you can walk along the river to Tuv and on towards the ski centre. Otherwise, you can go up Karisetberget.
