「大阪みどりの百選」にも選ばれる景勝地。美味しい空気とマイナスイオンを浴びながらの滝めぐりができる。

和歌山県との県境に近い河内長野市の山間部、岩湧山と槇尾山の登山口にある。滝畑四十八滝は、紀伊山地から湧き出た大和川の支流である石川にあり、その上流の渓谷にある一連の滝の総称を指す。水の流れが光滝、大滝、御光滝、権現滝、稚児滝、荒滝など多数の滝となって次々と流れ落ちていく。その中でも、光滝寺の近くにある光滝は最も大きく、寺の名前はこの滝の名前に由来する。この光滝を起点に徒歩約15分で荒滝、徒歩約30分で御光滝、更に約40分歩けば大滝に行き着き、これらの滝巡りが手軽なハイキングコースとしても人気である。緑が美しい滝畑ダムと滝畑四十八滝は、「大阪みどりの百選」のひとつに選ばれている。
