Hydnefossen is the highest waterfall in Buskerud. It is a popular attraction in Hemsedal, and has a drop of 155 metres, which continues down the steep slope to the valley floor.
You get the best view of the waterfall from below. The waterfall is visible from the main road Rv52, however if you want to stop, it is recommended to turn off the main road towards Langeset waste station (the same road as the Hornslie parking and the hikes to Veslehødn/Veslehorn and Storehødn/Storehorn) and stop at the intersection a little further in. In the summer, many people take the Topp20 hike towards Veslehødn/Veslehorn or Storehødn/Storehorn, where the waterfall is crossed at the top. Find road and hike descriptions for these under Recommendations nearby. The waterfall is also a popular spot for ice climbing in winter.
