In fine weather, the greenery dominates, and the air is pleasant and fresh, even in the hottest weather. In summer, don't be surprised to see a few brave souls, usually children, dipping their feet in the icy waters of the river.
In autumn, the landscape takes on an orange hue. When the leaves cover the ground, it's a pleasure for the ears to hear the crackling and for the eyes to admire the gradation of colors.
Then comes winter, and the white coat takes over. It's as if time stands still, with only the sound of rushing water to break the silence.
The waterfall is accessible all year round, so all you need to do is equip yourself according to the weather.
There are two ways to get there: A version for walkers, with a 6-kilometer loop that takes 1h30 to complete, through the forest and the village of Le Hohwald. The second, more direct version allows you to park in a parking lot just outside the village on the way to the Col du Kreuzweg. Follow a small path marked with a red circle for 800 metres. Five minutes, 250 meters of ascent, a little strain on the calves, but nothing insurmountable, and you're there. In both cases, a good pair of shoes is essential.
For picnic lovers, there's a table and benches at the foot of the waterfall, and for farm inn enthusiasts, you're sure to find what you're looking for at Le Hohwald.
