Der größte Wasserfall Sachsens rauscht hier über mehrere Granitfelsen und ergießt sich in die malerische Große Bockau, welche kurz darauf in die Zwickauer Mulde mündet.

bei langer Trockenheit wenig Wasser

Seit mehr als 100 Jahren rauscht der Wasserfall über die imposanten Felsblöcke des Eibenstocker Granitmassivs.

Damals ließ der Besitzer einer örtlichen Holzschleiferei, Kommerzienrat Toelle, einen Graben aus Natursteinen anlegen, welcher Wasser aus Bachläufen höhergelegener Regionen abzweigte und dieses dann von großer Höhe seine Turbinen der Fabrik antrieb. Da er gleichzeitig Inhaber des örtlichen Parkhotels "Forelle" war, kam ihm die Idee das Wasser an Sonn- und Feiertagen als touristische Attraktion über die naheliegenden Felsen stürzen zu lassen. Im Winter bietet der Wasserfall die besondere Attraktion des Eiskletterns.
