375 m über NN auf dem weithin sichtbaren Hirschstein befindet sich das „Sophienkreuz“, im Volksmund aber meist als „Weißes Kreuz“ bekannt.
Der damals regierende Fürst Heinrich XX. Reuss Aelterer Linie (1794-1859) ließ es zum Gedenken an seine früh verstorbene erste Gemahlin, Prinzessin Sophie von Löwenstein-Wertheim (1809-1838), 1838 errichten. Durch die Witterung wurde es mehrfach umgerissen, jedoch hat man es wieder errichtet. Seit 1952 steht es unter Denkmalschutz.
