Viewpoint on a beautiful hiking trail with great views

Not only is the “Tabakstanne” (“tobacco fir”) the highest point of Thalheim, but it is also a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the mining town. The Tabakstanne is located on a hiking trail. The name actually comes from a fir tree growing there. It is said that a tinderbox was kept in a hollow inside this fir tree, thus making it a place where waggoners could stop. Unfortunately, the tree was destroyed by a lightning strike in 1911.
