Das Bergell ist ein geologisch hoch interessantes Gebiet. Die Berge Cima dal Cantun und Cima di Castello bestehen aus dem Bergeller Granit, der sich aus besonders grossen Kalifeldspatkristallen zusammensetzt. Als vor 30 Millionen Jahren flüssiges Gestein aus dem Erdinnern in die oberen Schichten eingedrungen ist, haben sich diese schönen Kristalle durch die langsame Erstarrung gebildet. Währen der Verschiebungen der Tektonischen Platten im Tertiär wurde das Granit-Gestein rasch an die Oberfläche gehoben.
Die schroffen Felswände der Bergeller Alpen sind typisch für das harte Granitgestein und sehr beliebt bei den Bergsteigerinnen und Bergsteigern.
