The Cable Car goes just in four minutes from Solliveien in Tromsdalen up to the mountain ledge Storsteinen which is 421 m above sea level. The viewing terrace on the upper station offers for about 118 000 visitors per year remarkable panoramic views of Tromsø, neighboring islands, mountains and fjords. Cable Car is a brilliant spot to start different hikes into the mountains as well as outstanding possibility to experience the Northern Lights.
From this height you can easily look on towns and villages on Tromsøya island, continent area directly below you and Kvaløya island that is a little bit far away. Moreover, buildings like the Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø's old secondary school as well as two spans of the Tromsø and Sandnessund bridges can be seen and recognized from there.
There are two gondolas which are known as Seal and Polar bear. Each of them has a capacity of 28 passengers. Recently Tromsø Cable Car has been renovated with innovative drive system, modern gondolas and it is now accessible for wheelchair users.

If you go by foot to the Cable Car ground station, it takes around 45 m from Tromsø’s city center.
Also, you can use public transport and it takes about 15 min by bus 26 from the city center.
