A popular refuge for hikers with a beautiful view of the western Bad Ems

The Adolphstempel is not only a popular refuge for hikers, it also offers a beautiful view of western Bad Ems.

Adolphsweg and Adolphstempel were created in 1848, the year of the revolution, to provide unemployed day labourers with a source of income. It was named after the then Duke Adolph von Nassau. Today's refuge dates from the 20th century. From here, you can see the old village of Ems and the island of Silberau. The processing facilities of the Ems lead and silver works and the large slag heaps had been located there since 1859. Around 1880, over 1600 people worked in the mines, the processing plant and the smelter.
