Das Tempelchen ist ein beliebter Aussichtspunkt am Rundwanderweg in Thal. Erbaut wurde es Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Von hier hat man einen schönen Ausblick auf Thal.

Ein beliebtes Wanderziel und Aussichtspunkt ist das Tempelchen. An der Schossbergpromenade gelegen, wurde es wahrscheinlich in der Zeit des aufkommenden Fremdenverkehrs als Aussichtspunkt an einem Promenadenweg errichtet. Mehrmals instand gesetzt, erfolgte 1972/73 ein vollkommen Neuaufbau durch die Kameraden der Feuerwehr Thal. Seit dieser Zeit findet alljährlich hier das beliebte Waldfest „Tempelchenfest“ statt.

Erreichbar ist das Tempelchen über den Rundwanderweg "Rund um Ruhla" (Markierung: Grüner Querbalken) sowie den Rundwanderweg "Meisenstein" (Markierung: Gelbes Kreuz).

Mit dem Bus der Buslinie 140 oder 142 (aus Richtung Eisenach) bis zur Haltestelle "Thal Schreiberbrunnen" fahren. Fahrzeiten und Informationen gibt es online unter: www.wartburgmobil.info Für Bahnreisende besteht die Möglichkeit am Fernbahnhof Eisenach sowie am Regionalbahnhof Wutha-Farnroda auszusteigen. Bei beiden Bahnhöfen gibt es Anschluss-Busse nach Ruhla.
