The winery owner Karl Schaefer (1849-1931) was chairman of the Drachenfels Club for 32 years. In 1927, he stepped down from his position. Karl Schaefer was involved in the founding of the Drachenfels Club. Selflessly, he was continuously active in the service of his hometown for over 50 years. A great deal happened at his suggestion and under his responsibility. One of his major contributions as the first chairman was the construction of the Bismarck Tower, which incurred extraordinarily high costs for that time.
