San Romerio è un alpeggio a 1'800 m s.l.m. situato al di sopra del Lago di Poschiavo in splendida posizione. Dalla terrazza sospesa, la vista spazia sulla Val Poschiavo fino a Tirano.
Adagiato su una terrazza sospesa, 800 metri al di sopra del lago, l’alpeggio è raggiungibile in soli 20 minuti dalla stazione dell’autopostale Viano-Piaz (da Brusio). Oltre ad una splendida vista, la località offre un ristoro che serve le specialità regionali tipiche. Aperto da metà maggio a fine ottobre, il rifugio San Romerio offre inoltre possibilità di pernottamento.
Curiosità fra storia e leggenda
A picco su una scoscesa parete rocciosa si trova la chiesa montana di San Romerio, consacrata nel 1106. Nel XII secolo, qui si trovava anche la residenza dei monaci dell’ordine degli Umiliati. Dell’antico ospizio rimangono oggi tre case.L'erosione geologica fece sì che parte dell'antico pianoro di San Romerio rovinasse a valle, mentre fu risparmiata la parte più orientale, che è quella attuale.La tradizione vuole che la frana si fermò proprio là dove sorgeva l'antica chiesetta, che risparmiò quindi la vita agli alpigiani e agli armenti. In verità questa fu edificata più tardi proprio a ridosso del baratro, in una posizione paesaggistica di rara bellezza, quasi gli antichi costruttori volessero porre la dimora di Dio ad ostacolo di un futuro scoscendimento.
