High above Ranschbach, below the Kolpinghütte, stands a Palatinate beach chair made from an old wooden wine barrel, 2.50 m high, 3 m wide, and 1.80 m deep, right in the Seligmacher vineyard since 2020.
A former cooper from Ranschbach converted the 2500-liter barrel so that it can now comfortably seat two people and snuggle together with a third. While enjoying a glass of wine, one can relish the view down to Ranschbach over the vineyards all the way to the Kleine Kalmit near Ilbesheim. In good weather, the view even stretches to the Black Forest to the south and the Odenwald to the east.
Picnic in Nature
Whether on a hike or a bike tour: A picnic in the open air is a special experience – especially with regional specialties from the Palatinate! To keep nature as untouched as possible, please use only designated rest areas. In forests and vineyards, there are often no trash cans to avoid attracting wildlife and to keep the landscape clean.
Therefore, the rule is: Everything you bring with you should also be taken back. Food scraps and packaging can be dangerous for animals and often take decades to decompose. Dispose of your waste responsibly and thus protect the unique nature of the Palatinate!
