Visitors to the Brocken are treated to spectacular panoramic views in good visibility. You can watch the Großer Inselsberg in the Thuringian Forest (106 km away), the Kahler Asten in the Sauerland (162 km away), the Wasserkuppe in the Rhön Mountains (152 km away), the Vogelsberg in Hesse (172 km away) and the Fichtelberg in the Ore Mountains more than 230 kilometres away. However, the latter is usually visible at sunrise only. In good visibility, the view from the summit ranges across an area of roughly 42,000 km², which is about the size of Switzerland.
