The Alte Gericht (742 m) is the highest point in Großrückerswalde and one of the cornerstones of the Marienberg gray gneiss plateau.
Just below the hill, the viewpoint of the same name offers a fascinating view over the ridge line of the Erzgebirge from the Hirtstein near Satzung to the Erzgebirge-Vogtland border at the striking Auersberg - a breathtaking Erzgebirge panorama.
A sign provides detailed explanations. The viewpoint can be easily reached by bike or on foot via the Teichvorwerk or the Großrückerswalder Rundweg and is a worthwhile destination for an evening excursion, as you can watch the most beautiful sunsets and relax wonderfully here.
The Old Court is also a historical site. It is considered to be the starting point of the settlement of Großrückerswalde, which took place between 1100 and 1200 as part of the development of the Ore Mountains. The location on a former salt road - the Kärrnerweg, which led across the Alte Gericht and was used by carters to transport salt from the Halle area to Bohemia - was decisive for the settlement of the local area. It is possible that the first common court of the surrounding villages or the first provisional seat of the local magistrate was located here at the Old Court. Although the Old Court was never a place of execution, village court sessions may well have been held here.
