The Monte Scherbelino, created from a former rubble and landfill site, represents the highest elevation in Frankenthal. From its summit at 117.25 meters above sea level, which can be accessed via a roughly one-kilometer-long spiral gravel path, a unique panoramic view of the Rhine valley is offered. On clear days, the visibility extends to the Odenwald in the east and the Palatinate Forest in the west. The migration of birds in spring and autumn can also be excellently observed from this viewpoint. Together with the beach pool, the landscape protection area “Kleiner Wald,” and the Frankenthal animal enclosure, Monte Scherbelino forms a popular local recreation destination for sports and nature enjoyment.
Ample parking and bicycle parking facilities are available at the nearby beach pool.
