One of the most beautiful vantage points in the Swabian Alb near Kuchalb. From here, the view extends over the Filstal valley to the Drei Kaiserberge mountains and far into the Lauter valley.
The Maierhalde near Kuchalb in Donzdorf is one of the most impressive vantage points in the Swabian Alb. Situated high above the Filstal valley, it offers a wide panoramic view of the gently rolling Alb landscape as far as the striking Three Imperial Mountains - Hohenstaufen, Rechberg and Stuifen. On clear days, the view even extends as far as the Lauter valley and the ridges of the Albtrauf with Kalten Feld and Hohenstein.
The site is not only scenic, but also lovingly designed: A cross, a panorama board and a seating area invite you to linger. The panorama here is particularly impressive in the evening light, when the sun bathes the mountain ridges in warm light.
The Maierhalde is not far from the small hamlet of Kuchalb and can be reached via easily accessible paths. It is a popular destination for walks, hikes or a rest stop on a tour across the Albtrauf.
