Luitpold Hill

In addition to the Olympiaberg and the Neuhofener Berg, the Luitpoldhügel is also one of Munich's rubble mountains. Whereas in 1911, when Luitpoldpark was founded, the park was mainly flat, after the Second World War the Luitpoldhügel was heaped up with the rubble from bombed-out Munich houses. Today, from the top of the hill, you can marvel at the roofs of Schwabing and the backdrop of Munich with the striking church "Frauenkirche". On a clear day, and especially when there is a foehn, you can even let your gaze wander as far as the Alps. Thus, the view from the Luitpold hill is one of the most popular photo motifs in Munich.

Even in winter, Luitpoldhügel is a popular destination for excursions, especially for families with children. When snow conditions are good, the slopes of the debris mountain are transformed into a racy downhill run for tobogganing, and is then one of the steepest runs in Munich.

In summer, you can reach the top of the hill quite easily via an asphalt path or via smaller paths directly on the slope.
