Der Litzdamm wurde 1912 erbaut und damit das Siedlungsgebiet hier erschlossen. Die Bauarbeiten wurden unter der Aufsicht des Baumeisters Negrelli durchgeführt. Später wurde unter seiner Leitung der Suez Kanal erbaut. Die Litz entspringt im hinteren Silbertal an der Tiroler Grenze.
