The landscape opens up: we are no longer immersed in the mixed forest of beech and spruce—which now lies to our left—but are towered over by the immensity of the Sorapis massif directly in front of us. As we approach the Rio di San Vito, we’ll notice that it features a series of weirs, hydraulic structures (in this case made of concrete) designed to regulate the stream’s flow by artificially creating waterfalls, thereby reducing the stream’s kinetic energy during floods. In fact, as can be seen from the large number of pebbles present, this is an area heavily eroded by the stream’s flow.

Here, looking downstream, you can admire the Cadini di Misurina in all their beauty, and looking upstream, the Corno del Doge—a name that evokes the deep connection between the Somadida Forest and the Serenissima… A landscape that lets our imagination run wild!
