Wahrzeichen der Gemeinde Rinnthal

Wer den Kostenfels "besteigen" will, sollte etwas trittsicher sein. Das untere Felsplateau und der Gipfel sind nicht gesichert.

Den Namen erhielt der Fels vor sehr langer Zeit, als es hier sehr viel "kostete" aus dem kargen Boden einen vernünftigen Ertrag zu erzielen.

In den Kriegsjahren stand auf dem Fels eine Kanone um sich gegen die alliierten Luftangriffe zu verteidigen.

Der Kostenfels bietet einen überwältigenden Blick auf ... das Queich- und Wellbachtal und auf die Annweilerer Berge.

Unterhalb des Kostenfels führt der Hüttenweg zur Jungpfalz Hütte.
