The Katzenkopp is one of the most charming destinations on the Lahn Hiking Trail. From here, an impressive panoramic view opens up over the Balduinstein bend in the River Lahn – a place where you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape in peace and quiet.

The Katzenkopp is one of the most charming destinations on the Lahn Hiking Trail. From here, an impressive panoramic view opens up over the Balduinstein bend in the River Lahn – a place where you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape in peace and quiet.
The Katzenkopp can be reached via the Lahn Hiking Trail in Hausen. Opposite Lenau’s Inn, a narrow path leads downwards. Winding through coppiced woodland and hedgerows, the path leads to this idyllic spot with sweeping views across the Lahn Valley.
The exact origin of the Katzenkopp’s name is unclear. Hills with a shape reminiscent of a cat’s head are often given this name. It is possible that wildcats once lived here and gave the place its name.
Along the Lahn there are numerous beautiful spots offering unique views of the landscape. Small pavilions have been erected at selected locations to provide shelter from the elements. Many are equipped with benches and are ideal for a break or a leisurely picnic.
For the hike, in addition to everything you’ll need along the way, be sure to pack the Lahnwanderweg hiking pass in your rucksack. With the stamps you collect, you can purchase a hiking certificate or take part in a small prize draw.
The stamps are available from the Diez Tourist Information Centre, Wilhelmstraße 63, 65582 Diez, during opening hours.
