The Heideweg trail leads from Bad Überkingen up to the Kahlenstein and on to the Alb plateau. Along the way, there are always sweeping views of the Filstal valley and the surrounding mountain ranges of the Swabian Alb. There is a brick viewing platform with a bench on one of the rocky outcrops - an ideal place for a panoramic break.
The entrance to the 150-metre-long Kahlenstein Cave is located just below the eaves line at a height of around 660 meters. It is closed all year round for nature conservation reasons. A brick platform with benches in front of the cave entrance is a reminder of the "cave lovers".
The biotope is characterized by diverse structures: sunny rock faces, shaded and moss-rich areas as well as specialized plants such as mountain leek on the under-sunny flanks. With rock face heights of up to 25 meters, the Kahlenstein combines impressive geology, species-rich nature and panoramic hiking experiences.
