The summit of Hohenstaufen offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Stauferland region. With audio guides, sunbathing waves and dangling benches, history comes alive and can be experienced here.
The viewpoint on the summit of Hohenstaufen is one of the most impressive places in the district of Göppingen - steeped in history, close to nature and full of far-reaching views. At an altitude of 684 meters, a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view opens up over the Upper Filstal valley and far into the countryside. On a clear day, the view extends as far as the Swabian Alb, the Rems Valley and even as far as the state capital Stuttgart.
Hohenstaufen is considered one of the most historic mountains in the region: the ancestral castle of the Staufer dynasty - the important noble family that wrote European history - once stood here. Today, a viewing platform with accompanying signage reminds visitors of this eventful past. Visitors can immerse themselves in exciting stories, myths and songs about the Staufer era with audio guides that can be borrowed free of charge.
If you simply want to relax, you can make yourself comfortable on the cozy loungers or the so-called "Baumelbänken" - perfect for letting your legs dangle and letting your gaze wander. There are also numerous benches along the way to take a break.
The summit can be reached via well-maintained hiking trails and is a popular destination for day trippers, hikers and history buffs alike. A place that combines nature, tranquillity and history in a special way.
