The hike from Lötschenpass to the Hockenhorn summit is pretty steep and rugged, but also not too hard for strong hikers. If you have time and energy, the summit is 600 meters - about 2000 ft - higher than the hut at the pass, so this would be a huge day if you are hiking from Gasterntal and back. But you do not need to go all they way. Explore as far as you like, and return the way you came. On a clear day, the views are exceptional.
