Dreihundert Meter hoch über dem verkehrsreichen Höllental überragt der aussichtsreiche Posthaldefelsen die darunterliegende große Blockhalde Posthalde.

Die Blockhalde Posthalde markiert die Grenze bis zu der die Gletscherzungen der Eiszeiten in das Tal vorgedrungen sind.

Der Aussichtspunkt liegt unmittelbar am Querweg Freiburg-Bodensee.
