Der Turm mit atemberaubender Aussicht befindet sich auf der Schartenfluh (im Volksmund «Gempenstollen» oder schlicht «Gempen»), der mit 753 m.ü.M höchsten Erhebung des Gempenplateau. Der Turm wurde 1897 erbaut und ist 28 Meter hoch. Der Gempenturm ist das Wahrzeichen von Gempen. In der Nacht leuchtet er grün, so dass man sich immer bestens am Gempen orientieren kann. Seit vielen Jahren kann man für einen Franken die vielen Treppenstufen hinaufsteigen und den wunderbaren Ausblick in Richtung Vogesen, Schwarzwald und Alpen geniessen.
