Der Gasparinentempel wurde um 1822 auf dem damaligen Alexandrinenberg anlässlich der Vermählung des Fürsten Heinrich XIX. Reuss Aelterer Linie (1790-1836) mit der Prinzessin Gasparine von Rohan-Rochefort und Montauban (1799-1871) erbaut.
Restaurierungen, Umgestaltungen und Sanierungen sicherten in den folgenden Jahren den Erhalt des Tempels. In Vorbereitung des „Greizer Heimatfestes“ 1934 wurde eine Generalreparatur unumgänglich. Die Holzsäulen des Tempels wurden durch acht toskanische Granitsäulen ersetzt. Der klassizistische Bau, mit einer Höhe von 8 m und einem Durchmesser von ca. 6 m, zeigt sich in einer offenen Bauweise. Der Gasparinentempel liegt auf der Strecke des Greizer Rundwanderweges (Etappe 3: Silberloch-Dölau) und ist ein besonderer Aussichtspunkt.
