Der Gaisberg hat eine Höhe von 1287 m ü. A. und ist einer der Hausberge der Stadt Salzburg. Er ist ein Ausläufer der Osterhorngruppe und begrenzt das Salzburger Becken im Osten, er gehört somit zu den Salzkammergut-Bergen. Aufgrund seiner Lage und einfachen Erreichbarkeit ist er eins der wichtigsten Naherholungsgebiete von Salzburg und ein sehr guter Aussichtspunkt auf die Stadt und die Berchtesgadener Alpen.
