The De Kaap observation tower is located in the middle of the Kaapse Bossen in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park near Doorn.
The 25-metre-high wooden structure was erected in 2006 on a 40-metre-high hilltop, offering one of the best views over the wooded hilly landscape of the region. On a clear day, the platform offers a view of the surrounding area as far as the cathedral gates of Utrecht, the Austerlitz pyramid and even the Rhine on a clear day. The tower is accessible free of charge all year round and can be climbed via a staircase. Benches at the base of the tower invite you to linger, and a visit can be ideally combined with a hike in the varied Kaapse Bossen.
Parking is available at the edge of the forest, the last few meters must be walked. The tower is not barrier-free.
