The Bismarck Tower of Altenkirchen was built in honour of the first German Chancellor Prince Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898).
The Bismarck Tower stands on the Dorn, a hill with a good view of the district town of Altenkirchen.
It was built from an initiative by citizens. The foundation stone was laid on April 1, 1914. The opening was delayed due to World War I. The opening was planned for April 1, 1915, which was delayed by another 7 years.
From 2009 to 2010, the monument was restored.
Opening times
The tower is open every 1st Sunday of the month from 14.00 - 16.00 hrs.
Appointments outside the opening hours are possible by appointment.
