Wildly romantic rocky landscape above Bad Ems

Al in de 19e eeuw, tijdens de Romantiek, was de Bäderlei met haar rotslandschap hoog boven Bad Ems een zeer populaire bestemming voor uitstapjes. Talrijke uitkijkpunten, de Heinzelmann grotten en de Mooshütte, toen en nu een ontmoetingsplaats voor geliefden, bieden de mogelijkheid om van het landschap te genieten. Zelfs Karl Baedecker, pionier in reisgidsen, prees de rotsen van de Bäderlei, net als de beroemde schrijver Dostojevski, die ze "de mooiste ter wereld" noemde.
