The Arlscharte, at 2,252 meters, is a striking pass in the Hohe Tauern National Park offering views of the Ankogel and the Hochalmspitze.
The Arlscharte is located at an elevation of 2,252 meters in the Hohe Tauern National Park and forms a striking passage from Grossarltal toward Carinthia. This challenging high-altitude mountain tour begins at the head of the Hüttschlag Valley and leads past Schödersee, along the Kolmbach stream, and past mountain lakes such as the Kolmseen and Pfringersee (also known as Arlsee), up to the saddle.

Once at the top, an impressive view opens up of the surrounding three-thousand-meter peaks, including the Ankogel and the Hochalmspitze. The Arlscharte is also the starting point for further alpine tours, such as those toward the Kölnbreinspeicher or the Weinschnabel. Sure-footedness, good physical condition, and alpine experience are required for this tour.
