Nach einem schweißtreibenden Aufstieg vom Kloster Beuron öffnet sich am Alpenblick ein erster Ausblick aufs Donautal zum Schloss Bronnen und zum Tempel des Soldatenfriedhofs. An besonders klaren Föhntagen reicht die Sicht auch bis zu den Alpen. Am oberen Ende des Anstiegs stand bis 1964 der Staighof, ein Lehenshof des Klosters Beuron und später des Hauses Hohenzollern.
