Wir betrachten die Berge zu beiden Seiten des Tales. Die Geologie und Gletscher sind für die unterschiedlichen Formen verantwortlich.

Die unterschiedlichen Formen der Gebirgsketten südlich und nördlich der Binna erklären sich aus unterschiedlichen Gesteinen, Gneise und Serpentinit im Süden, Bündnerschiefer im Norden. Auf Grund ihrer unterschiedlichen Härte und somit unterschiedlichen Erosionsgeschwindigkeiten entstanden im Verlauf der Eiszeiten die aktuellen Gebirgsformen. Schroff im Süden, gerundet, weich im Norden. Der Höchststand des Eises wurde vor etwa 25'000 Jahren erreicht und reichte bis auf 2600 m Höhe. Wo fanden sich erste menschliche Spuren im Binntal und wann er- folgte die erste Besiedelung des Tals?
