Im heutigen Munzach befand sich das wohl grösste römische Landgut der Schweiz.

Die Villa Munzach entstand im 1. Jahrhundert nach Christus.

Die riesige Anlage war über 300m lang und 160m breit.

Sie war mit Badetrakt, Bodenheizung und reichem Mosaikschmuck luxuriös ausgestattet.

Bei Ausgrabungen fand man einen Wasserspeier in Form eines Delphins und ein prächtiges Mosaik mit einem Vierergespann sowie andere Kostbarkeiten.

Wahrscheinlich diente die Villa einem reichen Römer aus dem nahen Augusta Raurica als Landsitz.

Von der prächtigen Villa Rustica ist vor Ort jedoch nur noch wenig erhalten.
