Die Rhön

Das Kaskadental bei Bad Kissingen hat eine lange Geschichte. Im Jahr 1767 ließ der Würzburger Fürstbischof Friedrich von Seinsheim am Ilgenbach künstliche Kaskaden errichten sowie einen breiten Spazierweg mit Statuen. Bildhauer war möglicherweise Ferdinand Tietz, von dem auch Figuren im Kurpark von Bad Bocklet gefertigt wurden.

Fürstbischof Friedrich von Seinsheim erschuf mit dem Kaskadental ein Ausflugsziel für die Kurgäste aus Bad Kissingen und Bad Bocklet, das auch heute noch beliebt ist. Die Skulpturen sind heute zum großen Teil verschwunden und ihr Verbleib unbekannt. Das Wasser des Ilgenbachs stammt aus der Quelle des Brunnens der ehemaligen Waldsiedlung Bremersdorf, die bereits im 14. Jahrhundert aufgegeben wurde. Der Sage nach wurde sie zerstört, weil ihre Einwohner die Felder und Wiesen der Kissinger beschädigt haben sollen.

Das Kaskadental befindet sich am Premiumwanderweg "DER HOCHRHÖNER".

Das Kaskadental ist mit der Buslinie 8113 über die Haltestelle "Klaushof Wildpark, Bad Kissingen" erreichbar. Von hier müssen noch ca. 1,6 km zu Fuß gegangen werden (Dauer 18 Minuten).
