The enchanting town of Althofen is located in the north of Carinthia in the Krappfeld, the granary of Carinthia, away from traffic and yet easy to reach from the main road Vienna-Klagenfurt. The city offers its more than 4,700 inhabitants a mild, fog-free southern climate. The location of the medieval hilltop settlement is unique, making Althofen one of the most beautiful towns in Carinthia: the picturesque old town of Althofen with the Salzburger Platz at its heart exudes Mediterranean flair and is reminiscent of Tuscan towns.
