Mount Devecani (1760m) and Mount Galica with their numerous well marked routes are attractive targets for mountaineers. On the Babanovac (1260m) which is linked to Travnik by a 20km macadam road, there used to be a well known centre of winter sports with 6 ski lifts, 15 km of cross-country skiing trails and 4 ski jumps.
Geographic position, relief dissection, and geological history give its flora a special and peculiar attributes. According to catalogues of BH herbarium at the Sarajevo National Museum, Vlašić is home to many endemic species, including very endangered plants. A distinctive characteristic of the Vlašić flora is its age, or the existence of very old, relict species that have survived due to favorable conditions, from ancient times of diluvial glaciations until the present.
Mount Vlašić is known for the breeding of “tornjak“, a native dog breed registered on 9 May 1981 as a "shepherd dog of Bosnia and Herzegovina - tornjak". In addition to tornjak, the Vlašić cheese is one of the landmarks of the area.

Public transport
By bus: from Travnik take the Travnik trans bus which leaves on Weekdays at 10:00h and 15:00h and on Saturdays at 10:00h (for more information call Travnik trans: + 387 30 511 918).By car: from Travnik take the road to Turbe, about 5 km from Travnik turn right and ascend to Vlašić along the paved road. The road to Vlašić is marked and easy to follow.
Directions
Babanovac sports and recreation center (at 1260 m) is linked to Travnik by two access roads - R-413 and R-413a. Distance Travnik – Babanovac is 28km via Turbe (R-413), a small remote town 7km from Travnik on the road to Bihać. Another possible access to Babanovac from Travnik is via Galica (R-413a), a 3km shorter route but recommended only in summer. This road is narrow and very dangerous; in winter it is a one-way road because of possible landslides.
