A mysterious place of absolute beauty, certified by the triple UNESCO mark, Val d 'Algone will impress you with the original richness of its nature.
The English explorer Douglas William Freshfield, who lived between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, called it the "most beautiful place" in the Italian Alps. Yet, to this day, the Val d 'Algone remains for many a mysterious destination. Not for the UNESCO experts, however, who gave it a triple recognition (World Heritage Site, Geopark and Biosphere Reserve). Starting from Stenico or Ragoli, a paved road for 7 kilometres will take you to the Ghedina and Brenta huts where there is also the Park's info point. The richness of arboreal, shrub and herbaceous species is surprising, as well as the variety of fauna that includes roe deer, chamois and golden eagles. A visit to the ghost village of Irone, abandoned during the plague of 1630, is essential.
