Die Steinkarpitze ist ein 2067 m hoher Gipfel in der Gruppe der Vilsalpseeberge. Er besteht hauptsächlich aus Hauptdolomit, was ihm seine graue Farbe verleiht. Der Schrofengipfel kann von Osten, Norden und Südwesten bestiegen werden. Alle Gipfelanstiege verlaufen über steilen Fels und Geröllgelände. Oft wird er zusammen mit der benachbarten Roten Spitze von der Landsberger Hütte aus bestiegen.
