Pestingrad

The Pestingrad (1009 m) is the local mountain of the historic port city of Kotor. Its steep flanks rise into the Montenegrin sky and towers over the rooftops of the city. From its summit, spectacular views of the surrounding area and the fjord-like bay of Kotor open up. To the west, the view opens up to the Adriatic coast. Its twin peak Derinski, which is about 100 m higher, is separated by a saddle behind the Pestingrad. However, a visit is hardly worthwhile because the Pestingrad mostly blocks the view of the bay. The Pestingrad can be climbed either directly from the port city (approx. 1000 m altitude difference, steep terrain), or from the high plateau in the hinterland, which can be easily reached via a mountain pass road (approx. 200 m altitude difference, easy hike).
