With its 1099 meters, the Champ du Feu is the highest point of the Bas-Rhin. Its high altitude thatch vegetation and rounded peat bogs make it a natural area as fragile as it is exceptional. Part of the massif is classified "Natura 2000" the European programme which defines areas for the preservation of outstanding natural environments. Natura 2000 website in the Bruche Valley
