Der Gipfel ist der Namensgeber der Kanzelwandbahn. Der ursprüngliche Name des Gipfels von Oberstdorfer Seite aus ist Warmatsgundkopf. In einer Gehzeit von ca. 30 min ist der Gipfel für geübte Wanderer von der Bergstation der Bahn aus zu erreichen.
