Mit seinen beiden markanten Gipfeln (844 und 832 m) ist der Hohenstoffeln (von ahd. stophil, kleiner Fels) ein Wahrzeichen des Hegaus. Der vulkanische Berg zwischen Binningen und Weiterdingen gehört zur Basaltgruppe seiner Kegelberge. Seit 1941 steht er unter Naturschutz.
