Im Talanschluß vom Gleirschtal in den Sellrainer Bergen steht der mächtige Gleirscher Fernerkogel.
Seit dem Sommer 2018 hat der begeisterte Bergsteiger Erwin Mair ein neues Gipfelkreuz errichtet.
Mit seinen Freunden Triendl, Hubi und Abfalterer, Meini wurde der Zusteig über die Südwand mit zwei Standplätzen gebohrt.
Somit ist ein Übergang zum Winnebacher Weisskogel und zur Rosskarscharte erleichtert.
