Unirii Square (Piața Unirii) is the oldest historical square in Timișoara. It was named Piața Unirii in 1919 because it was where Romanian troops first entered Timișoara.
It's a Baroque style square, covering an area of 150x110 meters. Throughout its history, the square has gone by several names, including Hauptplatz (Main Square), Domplatz (Dome Square), and Losonczy Square (named after Stefan Losonczy, a committee member killed during the city's conquest by the Turks in 1552).
The square is home to many significant landmarks such as the Roman Catholic Dome, Baroque Palace, Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, Brück House, Holy Trinity Monument, mineral water fountain, and other architectural monuments.
