Der Friedrichplatz, benannt nach Friedrich I., Großherzog von Baden (1826-1907), entstand als einer der ersten Plätze der jungen Stadt, nach den Gestaltungsplänen des Architekten und Stadtbaumeisters Ewald Steffen um 1911. Schon um 1900 wurde das Schuhhaus Bohn erbaut, ebenso das Café Motsch (heute Restaurant Fudu / Hotel Danner). Alle anderen Gebäude entstanden seit den 1920er Jahren, wie das Haus "Lasserstube", der heutigen Wirtschaft "Public Pub" oder das Geschäfts- und Wohnhaus an der Ecke zur Zähringerstraße im Stil der klassischen Moderne.
