Die Champs-Élysées bildet den mittleren Teil der "historischen Achse" Paris,welche sich vom Arche de la Défense im Pariser Geschäftsviertel bis hin zum berühmte Louve Museum erstreckt.
Die 2 km lange Prachtstraße beginnt am Place de la Concorde und endet am Arc de Triomphe, dem Place Charles de Gaulle. Sie wird auch oft als "die schönste Avenue der Welt" bezeichnet und sollte bei einem Paris-Aufenthalt auf jedem Fall auf dem Programm stehen. Hier findet man unzählige Restaurants, Museen und Luxusgeschäfte.
Der Nationalfeiertag Frankreichs wird mit aufwendigen Militärparaden und Veranstaltungen entlang der Champs-Élysées am 14. Juli gefeiert. An diesem Tag befindet sich die ganze Stadt im Außnahmezustand.
